STEEN VOOR STEEN / BRICK BY BRICK

Al 2 jaar wachten we vol geduld op het “beloofde” land. Maar nu moesten we hals over kop een nieuwe oplossing zoeken voor onze kinderen. Per 1 december moesten we namelijk het huis uit. We zaten met onze handen in het haar, maar God is goed en trouw en kwam op het juiste moment met een geweldige oplossing! We vonden een paar prachtige stukjes land midden in de Afrikaanse natuur. Bovendien staan er op een van de stukjes grond net 6 nieuw gebouwde huisjes. Met ieder een eigen douche en WC. Nou, we aarzelden geen seconde! Er werd gepakt door alle kinderen. Onze oudste geweldige zonen begonnen aan de muur te bouwen om het tweede stukje land. Kinderen maakten plannen over wie bij wie gaat slapen, welke kleur hun nieuwe huisje krijgt. Ook de kleintjes hadden een verlanglijst, namelijk een eigen speelhoek, een kleuterklasje, een tuin on in te ravotten. Naast de woonhuisjes is er dus nog veel werk aan de winkel. Een goede omheining, een kantoorruimte voor onze Mariska, een eigen kliniekje, een schooltje en een goede eetzaal met keuken. Willen we later nog meer kinderen kunnen omarmen in onze Home (en dat ziet ernaar uit!), dan moeten we er een jongenshuis bij bouwen. We besparen mooi uit in uurloon omdat onze oudste jongens (die net hun diploma behaalden in houtbewerking, lassen en metselen) de gedroomde werkkrachten zijn. Het zijn vooral de bouwmaterialen en het transport dat veel geld kost. Maar Foodstep gaat verder; Steen voor Steen! De kinderen kwamen met een goed idee om al hun vrienden, sponsors en bezoekers over de hele wereld te vragen of ze ieder een” Bouwsteen” willen sponsoren. Papa Werner berekende dat 1 bouwsteen 1 euro kost. But now all of a sudden we had to look for another solution. Per the 1st of December we had to leave the house. We were desperate, didn’t know what to do. But God is great and faithful and He came at the very right moment with an amazing solution! We found some beautiful pieces of land in the middle of the African Nature. Moreover, on one of the pieces of land there are 6 newly built houses. Each one with its own shower and toilet. Well, that was an easy decision to make! The children started packing. Our oldest wonderful sons started with the construction of the wall around the 2nd piece of land. The children made plans of who is going to sleep with whom and which color their new houses would get. Also the smaller children had their own wish list: a playground, a garden to play in, a class for homework. So there is still a lot of work to do; a good fence (for safety), an office for our Mariska, our own small clinic, a little school and a dining with kitchen. If we want to embrace more children in our Home (and it looks like it!) then we have to construct a boy’s House. We save on salary since our oldest boys (who just got their certificate in carpentry, welding and construction) are our dream staff. It will be mainly the materials and the transport that will cost a lot of money. But Foodstep will go on; Brick by Brick! The children came with the great idea to ask all their friends, sponsors and visitors from all over the world to sponsor a “Brick”. Papa Werner calculated that 1 brick will be 1 dollar.
