Justine!

Tijdens afgelopen verkiezingen leefde Justine (9 jaar) op straat in Masaka. Haar tante is prostituee en wilde Justine ook “het vak leren”. Bovendien mishandelde de tante haar.
Een medewerker van de kindergevangenis Kampiringisa zag deze trieste situatie en besloot haar mee te nemen. Hij vond dat Kampiringisa in ieder geval nog een betere plek voor haar zou zijn, wetende dat Foodstep speciaal voor deze kinderen extra zorgdraagt.
Bij ons weekelijks bezoek aan de gevangenis, viel ze meteen op. Een mooie, vrolijke meid. Een van haar eerste vragen was of ze naar school mocht. Ze bleek een volle wees te zijn dus voor ons was de keuze snel gemaakt. We willen waar het kan de kinderen zo kort mogelijk in de gevangenis laten zijn. We kregen toestemming om haar mee naar onze Home te nemen. Een dag met een gouden randje! Weer een meisje met een hoopvolle toekomst.
Mama Catharine heeft nu een huis gevuld met 16 meiden!

During the elections Justine (9 years) lived on the streets of Masaka. Her aunt is a prostitute and also wanted to teach Justine this “profession”. Besides that her aunt abused her.
A co-worker of the children’s prison Kampiringisa observed this depressing situation and decided to take her with him. He thought Kampiringisa was at least a better place for her, knowing that Foodstep is taking care especially of these kind of children.
During our weekly visit to the prison we immediately noticed her, a beautiful and happy girl. One of her first questions was if she could go to school. She appeared to be a full orphan so it was easy for us to make the next step. We got permission to take her out of prison to our Home. A happy day! Another girl with a hopeful future.
Mama Catharine now has a home filled with 16 girls!
